Highlights

Our 2025 Lunch & Learn, held Saturday, June 21was truly a beautiful and inspiring event. Set in the serene surroundings of Bellmere Garden House, guests enjoyed a special afternoon filled with learning, connection, and nature.

Event Highlights:

  • Guest speaker Daniel Price (UGA Extension) shared valuable insights on soil health and composting with worms.

  • Nathan Wilson (New Southern Garden) offered expert guidance on selecting the right plants for your landscape.

  • A curated plant sale allowed guests to bring a touch of the garden home.

  • Attendees enjoyed an amazing gourmet boxed lunch from Rushing Trading Company.

  • A garden-themed raffle added fun and excitement to the day.

Proceeds from this event benefit Johns Creek Beautification’s public art initiatives and our Daffodils4Hope campaign.

Gardening Guru and UGA Extension Agent - Cobb County
Daniel Price brings science-based knowledge and a passion for sustainable gardening to every presentation. As a Horticulture Program Assistant with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in Cobb County, Daniel helps local gardeners navigate everything from improving soil health to managing wildlife and pests. With a background in biology and environmental science, he translates complex topics into practical advice that anyone can use.

Daniel shared essential tips on building better soil — the foundation of every successful garden — and offer guidance on how to tackle common gardening challenges, including how to keep critters at bay. He also introduced us to vermicomposting — composting indoors with worms — a fun and eco-friendly way to reduce food waste and enrich your garden naturally!

Horticulturist & Host of New Southern Garden
Nathan Wilson brings a passion for practical gardening and years of hands-on experience to every audience he meets. As the creator and host of New Southern Garden, a popular podcast and educational platform, Nathan has helped gardeners across the Southeast transform their outdoor spaces. With a degree in horticulture from the University of Georgia and over a decade of nursery and landscape experience, Nathan specializes in helping gardeners choose the right plant for the right place — a key to long-term garden success.

Nathan offered expert guidance and a curated selection of plants for sale, along with practical advice on how to design a garden that works with your landscape, not against it.

Proceeds: All proceeds from the luncheon will help our mission of funding public art installations throughout the city and  planting thousands of daffodils in our citywide Daffodils4Hope campaign.
